Spiritual “check engine lights” to consider: 1. Is more important than ? 2. Do I have a more influential than ? 3. Am I hungrier for than I am ? 4. Is more essential than ? MOTTO OF THE SPIRITUALLY MATURE: ! NOTES: QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY • What are some immature traits in others that drive you crazy? What were some key factors in your maturation? Read 1 Corinthians 3:1-5 and discuss: • Why were many in the Corinthian church categorized as spiritually immature by Paul? • What is the difference between the “natural person” of 2:14 and the spiritually immature, “infants in Christ”, as referred to by Paul in 3:1? • How can we be in Christ and still spiritually immature? Why would Paul be troubled that the church was spiritually immature? How does immaturity negatively impact our testimony? • What is the difference between spiritual milk and spiritual food? Why can’t the immature move past milk? How does this hinder growth? • Discuss the “check engine lights” mentioned in the message. How did God challenge you? Is there another “check engine light” you would add to the list? • What is the answer for spiritual immaturity? How can we help each other grow in maturity? PERSONAL APPLICATION • Prayerfully consider the spiritual “check engine lights”. Are any of these lit up on your life’s dashboard? If so, how will you respond: Ignore it? Explain it away? Get defensive? Do something about it? • If you want to do something about it, read James 1:22-25 this week. Go to the mirror, the Word of God. Don’t just acknowledge what it reveals, be a doer of the Word. Involve someone else on your journey. Let a trusted Christian mentor or friend know how God is challenging you.
