How have excuses either helped or hurt you? • God called Joshua to lead the Israelites to a place they had never been before. God will call us to new places, too. Why is change so uncomfortable? How do you normally respond? • Discuss the significance of Joshua 1:3. What would you do for God if you knew you wouldn’t fail? • What specific steps did the Lord instruct Joshua to take in order to be successful (v. 7-8)? What can we learn from this? Why is the Word of God so important to us moving forward? • Two reasons were proposed in the message as to why we don’t move forward. Which reason has been or currently is an obstacle for you? • Identify the biggest obstacle to trusting God. • Details some of the things God has already given us in Christ (Ephesians 1; 2 Peter 1:3). How then should we live? • What impacted you most from the message? APPLICATION • Trade in your “I can’t” for “I can’t, but God can”. Identify the greatest doubt you have concerning God’s promise that you are His heir. Read through Ephesians 1 and see if God specifically addresses the doubt. • Read the following verses this week and ask these two questions: How is the victory of God evident in this passage? What truths do I discover about God and about His promises?
