QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY
• GROUP HOT TAKES: What is something that everyone seems to like, but you think is overrated?
• Identify what you think each group member is personally passionate about based on what they talk about most.
Read Revelation 3:14-22 and discuss:
• The message to the Laodicean church was that it was “neither cold nor hot.” Why is it worse to be neither on fire for nor antagonistic toward God?
• Laodicea was a wealthy community, as reflected in its financial, manufacturing, and medical institutions. Why is materialism dangerous to a Christian’s passion? How can materialism weaken the Church?
• What are some red flags that could indicate lukewarmness?
• Is fellowship with Christ priceless? Why or why not? How do we value our relationship with Christ? Do we from time to time stop to take inventory of what we are placing value on in life? How does our use of time and money reflect our values? How do we practically express the value of our relationship with Christ?
• How can Christians overcome self-sufficiency and spiritual insensitivity?
PERSONAL REFLECTION & APPLICATION
• Read Revelation 2 and 3 this week. If Christ were writing to you what would He say? Ask yourself, “Which church is me?”
• Though in this letter Christ “knocking on the door” refers to the
door of the corporate church, it includes reference to individuals. Is Jesus standing and knocking at the door of your heart? This week, intentionally spend time in prayer asking God to reveal to you the temperature of your passion for Christ. Respond in obedience to what the Holy Spirit reveals.
