We will value the Lordship of over the leadership of . 2. We will trust over . 3. We will follow the of God rather than the of men. 4. We will boast in the of Jesus instead of our own . BIG POINT: When the Church is , that’s when the world sees . NOTES: QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY •Think of a group of people who are truly unified. It could be a family, a company, a sports team, etc. What have they unified around? What has that enabled them to accomplish that they couldn’t have if they were not unified? •What brings people together? What do people want to unify around? Why is that? •Read John 17. For whom is Jesus praying? What are the desires of Jesus in this prayer? •Review the Four Principles of Christian Unity. Discuss the following: •Following good leaders is a good thing! When does it become unhealthy? What does it look like to place the Lordship of Christ over even good leaders without causing division? •Emotions are good! God created them. When does it become unhealthy? What does it look like to trust facts while still remaining emotionally healthy? •Giving and receiving affirmation to and from other people is good! When does it cross the line? How can we practically follow God’s call without becoming a slave to the applause of those around us? •Working hard is a good thing! When does it go too far? How will you intentionally boast in the power of God without becoming lazy? PERSONAL REFLECTION: •Think about a mosaic or even find a picture of one and examine it.
