• According to ancient Jewish custom, the father of the groom chose a bride for his son. How does it make you feel that God the Father has chosen you (the church) to be the bride of Christ, the Son of God?
• What are some parallels between an earthly marriage and a relationship with Jesus?
• In western culture, the bride usually takes on the name of the groom. What does it look like for us to take on the name of Christ?
• We have all been unfaithful to Christ. How does it make you feel to know that He not only took the blame but has offered forgiveness & continued love?
• What must be present in the life of a person who is ready and waiting for the return of Christ? What is required to be invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb?
• Read Revelation 19:6-8.Take a few moments to imagine heaven and the celebration that awaits you. Share your thoughts.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
• According to Jewish custom, the groom would spend several weeks/ months preparing a home for his new bride. Once finished, he would return to the home of the bride (usually at night) to take her back to their new home. Though she had a general idea, the bride did not know the exact time of the groom’s return. Her job was to be ready. How can you be ready for the return of Christ?
• What can you do today? Tomorrow? This month? This year?
