NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

• If you could ask God one totally honest question about something you find difficult in your life, what would it be?

Read Luke 1:5-25 and discuss:

• Why would barrenness have been a sign of ultimate desolation in Jewish culture? How would it have impacted the lives of Zechariah and Elizabeth?
• When have you experienced a season in your relationship with God in which it seemed He was silent? How did it affect your faith?

• Notice the description of Zechariah and Elizabeth in v. 6. How is
it possible to love and trust God even when living with incredible disappointment?
• What are your thoughts about the three explanations of why you might not see the answer to your prayer? How have you seen this in your own life? What did you learn?

• What, practically, do you think is needed for persevering in faith and prayer through the disappointing seasons of life?
• Why is it important to live with an eternal perspective? What does this look like in real life?

• How did the message impact you personally?

PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION

Read Luke 1:1-13 and apply it:
• Pray personally; make it part of your life.
• Pray particularly; instead of praying generally, ask specifically. • Pray persistently; keep on asking, keep seeking, keep knocking.

God wants to teach us through persistent praying to wait on Him and to watch. As we pray, He is going to work on us and change us in the process. He will answer according to His will, His time, and His way.
