A Heartfelt Warning

April 21, 2024 / Keith Waggoner / Hebrews 3

In the Bible, the heart represents the center of your life and affections. Here are three challenges about your heart:

1. your heart.

2. your heart.

3. your heart.

ADDITIONAL NOTES…

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

Do some investigative biblical research as a group.

• Read Exodus 17:1-7 and Numbers 20:2-13. The first account takes place in year 1 of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness and the second account happens in year 40. Discuss the takeaways from this account.

• Read Numbers 13:13-20; 13:25-14:4; & 14:20-25. What was the purpose of the expedition? Why did the ten spies give the report they did? What marked the response of the people? Why did God respond the way He did?

• Read Psalm 95. How does this tie into the previous passages you discussed? What is the challenge for us?

Read Hebrews 3.

• How does the background research bring understanding and context to Hebrews 3? Why do you think the writer references Psalm 95? What point is he trying to make?
• Especially zero in on verses 12-14. Why should we pay attention to this challenge?

• What leads to a heart being hardened? What marks a person with a hardened heart?
• How can we with God’s help proactively fight this faithlessness?
• What was the biggest takeaway from the message?

PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION

Read Hebrews 4:12
• Why do you need God’s Word?
• What is God’s Word challenging you to right now?

Read Psalm 139:23 and 24
• Make this part of your daily prayer time and allow enough quiet time to hear God’s response to this prayer.
