NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

  • Think about a time when you put your trust in something or someone that failed you. What effect did that have on your ability to trust in the future?
  • Name some things or people you put trust in on a regular basis? Why do you put your trust in those things or those people? What makes them trustworthy?
  • Why do some people have a difficult time trusting God? What are some of the doubts you had/have about God?
  • What are some of things about God you find helpful when it comes to strengthening your faith in Him?
  • What are some ways true followers of Jesus can help dispel the lack of trust some people have in God? What can we do to show them that God is more trustworthy than they think?
  • Do your actions align with the trust you have in God? How so? If not, what needs to change?

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION

Read Psalm 46

  • Think about the goodness of God. Does your idea of what is good align with His? Things that are easy, comfortable, pleasurable, etc. are not always good for us. In fact, most of the time, they are unhealthy if left unchecked.  Ask God to shape your view of what is good to align with His.
  • Verse 8 talks about the works of God. What have you seen God do that was good in your life? Remember His goodness and trust that His plan for you will be good.
  • Verse 11 asks us to be still and know…Take a few moments and get still and quiet with God. Listen. Read His Word. Worship. Open your heart and mind to His leadership trusting that His work will be good.
