NOTES: QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY • As your reflect on your childhood, what were the main priorities of your family? How have those priorities influenced you? Who has been a strong spiritual leader in your life, and what impact did they have? Read Joshua 24:1-15 and discuss: • What is the context of these verses and why is it important? • Why would Joshua challenge the Israelites to make a choice? Why do you think worshiping false gods kept tripping up the Israelites? • Joshua challenged the Israelites to choose whom they would serve. What are some “gods” (distractions or idols) that compete for our devotion today? • If we could interview your spouse, kids, or close friends what would they say matters most to you? • Discuss why neither legalistic nor lukewarm Christianity work. Define the difference between the fake and the real. How can you know the difference? • Why does making God our choice necessarily lead to action? How can we live it and how does that influence our family? What are ways we can lead it in our family? • Discuss the big commitment. What are characteristics of a Christ- centered family? How can we encourage one another toward this? • What impacted you most from the message? How can this be applied? PERSONAL REFLECTION & APPLICATION • What’s one intentional step you can take this week to make your home more Christ-centered?
