QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY
• What does your name mean? If you don’t know, look it up.
• How do you normally respond when you feel out of place or like you
don’t belong?
Read Daniel 1:1-8 and discuss:
• Talk about the specific ways the Babylonians tried to assimilate
Daniel and his friends into their culture. Why do you think they used
these specific methods?
• What is meant by “worldliness” in 1 John 2:15–17, and how does that
connect to the spirit of Babylon? What parallels do you see between
Satan’s strategy in Babylon and his strategy in the world today?
• What is the difference between deconstructing faith and reforming
faith? How can Satan use deconstruction as a means to destroy?
• What voices or labels are trying to define your identity today? Are
they from God or the world? Read Ephesians 1:3–14. What truths
about your identity stand out? Which do you need to believe more
deeply?
• What is shaping your beliefs and views on life the most? Are you
equipped to discern truth from lies? How can you grow in biblical
discernment?
• Why does our diet matter? Think about the last seven days. What
have you consumed and how is it affecting you?
• Each person share one resolve like Daniel’s: a personal stand you will
take this week to resist worldliness and pursue holiness.
PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION
• Identity reminder: Write one truth from Ephesians 1 on a sticky note
or your phone lock screen: “I am a new creation,” “I am chosen,” “I am
redeemed,” etc.
• Practice discernment: The next time you’re watching or reading
something, pause and ask, “What is the message here, and is it true
according to Scripture?”
• Pray: To resolve not to defile yourself, to live out your God-given
identity, to love people without compromising truth, and to be salt and
light in a world longing for hope.
