First Head, Then Feet

January 1, 2023 / Roe Dudley / Luke 5:17-26

Three questions for three groups of people:

1. The 4 friends: What are keeping me from bringing people ?

2. The Pharisees: What are keeping me from ?

3. The Paralyzed: What is proof that I’ve been ?

BIG POINT: For salvation to take place, we must get out of  and take a step TOWARDS JESUS.

NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

Read Luke 5:17-26 and discuss:

• Describe what life would be like for someone who is paralyzed, practically and/or emotionally.

• What does it say about the paralyzed man’s friends that they were so determined to get him to Jesus?

• Why do you think Jesus forgave the man before he healed him? Do you think Jesus still prioritizes forgiveness before life-change? Why does the order matter?

• The man proved he was forgiven by getting up and walking. What is some evidence that we eventually show that proves we have been transformed by Jesus?

• Only Jesus could forgive and change this man’s life. Do you think this would have happened if the friends had given up or never tried getting him to Jesus? Why or why not?

• On a scale from 1 to 10 rate your group: — Our group works together to bring the lost to Jesus as a team and we see them forgiven and changed — Our group feels confident and equipped to clearly explain the gospel in a non-pressured way to an unbeliever — Our group is open to learn how to bring lost people to Jesus — Our group is committed to prayer, giving and fasting in our efforts to bring unbelievers to Jesus

• It took four people to get the man to Jesus. What are some different roles you could play within your group that work together to actually bring someone who is lost to Jesus in 2023?

APPLICATION

• Pray as a group for someone God has placed in your life that’s not a family member that you would like to bring to Jesus. Commit to pray for their salvation every day this week.

• Discuss as a group hosting a Christianity Explored course (7-week study for unbelievers and seekers) and being trained to lead one. If not, commit to taking a tangible step to reach the lost as a group this month.

• For more information about Christianity Explored email Roe Dudley at [email protected].
