QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY 

Read Revelation 2:12-3:6 and discuss:

  • Have you ever found yourself in situation where the only solution seemed to be some kind of compromise?  
  • When is compromise good? When is it destructive? Discuss the differences. 
  • What was the problem in Pergumum, Thyatira, and Sardis?  
  • What is the attitude of Christ towards those who compromise and refuse to repent? Look at all three churches. 
  • What are His promises to those who are faithful or turn to Him? Look at all three churches. 
  • How can we learn from the failures of Pergumum, Thyatira & Sardis? 
  • Read Acts 7:55-56. Think about the idea that Jesus stands for you when you stand for Him. How does that inspire you? What can you do to deepen your resolve, desire and strength to stand for Him? 

    PERSONAL REFLECTION 

    Think about the sobering message to these three churches.  Where are you? Would you be counted among the faithful or would you be among the deceived, disparaged, and discouraged? Have you compromised in some way or are you standing firm? If it’s the former, rejoice in the promises Christ offers. If it’s the latter, there is hope for those who repent.
