What are some areas in which you are naturally talented? • Is there a difference between natural talents and spiritual gifts? If so, what is the difference? • How does the Holy Spirit build and transform the church? What is the purpose of spiritual gifts? • Why was unity so important to the early church? Why is it still important today? How does diversity within the church help to maintain unity? When does this diversity pose a challenge to unity? • Discuss the facts about spiritual gifts emphasized in the message. • Share with one another how and why they are important to the Church. Identify the evident gifts in one another’s lives. PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION The implications of 1 Corinthians 12 are truly freeing. The Holy Spirit gives the gifts as He wills. We are not responsible to earn them, nor are we invited to pick and choose our favorite. There is no need to worry about whether or not we have the right one, the best one. The Holy Spirit in His sovereign will assigns us our gift, or gifts, at His discretion so that each one of us can fulfill God’s unique purpose for our lives. So, seek the Giver and His gifts, not to be “greater”, but to be part of His work. This week pray specificially toward that end. • Ask for God to gift you for His purposes this week as well as the clarity as to when it should be exercised. • When the Holy Spirit provides the opportunity to use the gift, do so for the glory of God and the good of others. • Ask God how you can be part of serving the Church. • Check out www.idahograce.com/serve for ways to get in the game.
