Stop & Start

November 17, 2024 / Keith Waggoner / 1 Peter 3-4

There are two simple points Peter makes in these verses:

1. Stop

Three things to remember that help:

• Remember

• Remember

• Remember

2. Start

NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

Read 1 Peter 3:18 – 4:11 and discuss:

• What is baptism and why does it matter? What is it not?
• Share your baptism story. Why did you get baptized?
• What is the significance of everything and everyone being subject to Jesus? How does that impact the way we live?
• What does it mean to think the same way as Christ (v. 4:1)? How can we prepare for suffering?
• Contrast living for human passions with living for Christ. Define and describe the differences.
• Why would unbelievers be surprised when you don’t do what they do? Why do unbelievers ridicule believers who live righteously?
• Talk about the three things to remember when struggling with sin. Which one is most helpful to you?
Peter says the end is near. Imagine that the world is going to end in twenty-four hours. How would you live your last day on earth?
• Why does Peter keep coming back to the power of a serving Christian who is zealous for good? What is God asking you to do to serve others?
• What was the biggest takeaway from the message?

PERSONAL APPLICATION AND REFLECTION

• What desires with which you continue to struggle will you ask God to help you overcome?
• What gift has God given you that you could use to serve others?
• In what simple way this week can you let unbelievers see that you live by a unique set of priorities?
