QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

Read Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-12; Romans 6:23-24 and discuss:

• Do you usually categorize sins? If so, how? If not, why not?
• Do you think God differentiates between types of sins? Why or why not?
• Do you have a sin problem? What blinds us to the sin in our lives? How must sin be addressed?
• Is God unjust to punish sin?

Read Matthew 6:12; Romans 8:7; 1 John 3:4 and discuss:

• How is sin described in each passage? Talk about the implications of each.
• Now, go to Matthew 27:45-54. What stands out to you about the three cries from the cross?

• What does it mean for Christ to be our Surety, our Mediator, and our Substitute? Does this change the way I live? How does this impact my relationship with God?
• Share your personal testimony by finishing this sentence: “Christ’s work on the cross is my…”

PERSONAL APPLICATION

This week is commonly referred to as Passion Week as we remember what Jesus did for us in paying the price for our sin. Throughout this week meditate on the following verses:
• Monday: Romans 3:10-12

• Tuesday: John 3:16
• Wednesday: 1 John 4:9-10
• Thursday: Luke 22:1-23:25
• Friday: Luke 23:26-56
• Saturday: Don’t read anything. Put yourself in the story. How would you feel if you were in the shoes of the disciples? Write down words that would correspond to what you imagine them feeling.
• Sunday: Luke 24

Experience the events of the cross at our Good Friday services this Friday at 5:00pm and 7:00pm.
