April 16, 2023 / Keith Waggoner / Revelation 1:1-8

BIG THEME: Through Christ, the !

Why do many avoid studying Revelation?

Why should we study Revelation?

What will help us best understand Revelation?

NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

• When you think of Revelation, what comes to mind first?
• What are reasons that some people love to study Revelation while others are not interested in studying it at all?
• For some people, studying Revelation generates some fear. Why could that be the case? What are some ways to address those fears?

Read Revelation 1:1-8 and discuss:

• Why is the book called Revelation? What does the word mean? What does it reveal?
• It is important to understand the original context in which the letter was written. What do you know about who wrote it, who it was written to, and why it was written?

• Discuss the blessing mentioned in verse 3. How are we blessed?
• List the ways John describes Jesus in these verses. How does this encourage you?
• Who has Christ made us to be? How does this change the way we live?
• What are some good reasons to study Revelation? What do you hope to learn as you study Revelation?
• What impacted you most from the message?

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Reflect on how you feel when you consider that Jesus Christ is coming again. How do you think God would want you to feel? If you believe this to be true, how will it impact the way you live this week?
