What To Expect

May 28, 2023 / Keith Waggoner / Revelation 6

BIG POINT: We are

Jesus informs our expectations of what’s to come:

1. Expect

2. Expect

3. Expect

4. Expect

NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

Read Revelation 6 and discuss:

• What is your initial reaction to what you’ve just read?
• Why is it important that we know what to expect? Why do you think Jesus let us see what was to come?
• What are some examples of ways that Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light?
• How can it be said that the apparent defeat of believers (in their
suffering or death) is really their victory? Do we find it hard to see into the ways of God because at least in the western world we see things too much from the perspective of this world only? How does that limit our ability to understand the purposes of God?
• Contrast suffering for God with suffering due to foolishness. Why is it important to know the difference?
• Why do you think the “last days” are taking so long? Are there any biblical passages that give us insight?
• When you consider the holy justice of God, what comes to mind first? Does this comfort or frighten you?
• How should we live if we are living in the last days?

PERSONAL REFLECTION & APPLICATION

• Read and meditate on 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 this week.
• Identify what we are challenged to do.
• Who needs to hear the good news of the gospel? How will you prepare to share the sobering reality of what is to come as well as the incredible hope we have thanks to salvation by grace through faith in Christ’s work?
