INTELLIGENCE: Know Your Enemy

June 4, 2023 / Matt Ritchey / Revelation 7:7-12

  1. “Know” the Enemy
    1. The Enemy is an created by God
    2. The Enemy to the church and those who are in Christ
    3. The Enemy is
  2. Know

“If you know the enemy and you know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle” – Art of War, Sun Tzu

Big Point: Know the who knows and the completely.

James 4:7-10

Questions for Further Study

  • A recent study by Barna revealed that 51% of people believe that Satan is real while only 44% believe that God is real. Why do think that is?
  • Satan is the accuser of the Christian and a liar.  What are the prevailing lies that people in our world are believing? What is the result?
  • Read Ephesians 6:12:  It’s clear we are in a spiritual battle. Satan and the forces of darkness operate in our world. What does that look like your life?
  • Because of Satan’s limitations, it’s rare if ever that you ever face him personally.  In fact, your greatest enemy most of the time is yourself.  What can you do this week to gain a better understanding of your strengths as well as areas where you are vulnerable?
  • Read James 4:7-10. What can you do this week to submit to God and draw near to Him?

Personal Reflection:

  • Think about who you are today.  Are you defined by your past or your achievements?  Something else?  Who does God say you are?
  • Satan is the accuser and his goal is to use deception to confuse you about who God is, who you are, & your purpose in this life. What lies of the enemy have affected you the most?
  • Read John 8:31-32.  What truths of God do you need to intentionally put in our mind and heart to combat the lies of the enemy?
