BIG POINT: You are not here to reach but you are here to reach
NOTES:
QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY
• Have you ever been truly lost or turned around? Describe that feeling. What or who helped you find your way back? What do you wish you had done differently in that situation? What did you learn?
• The Christian life is built on dependance to God. How does that make you feel to depend on Him, trusting Him to guide you through confusing times in your life?
• Jesus is our Commander – how does that resonate with you? Do you see Jesus as a harsh taskmaster? Distant Friend? Loving Father? Kind and fair King? How do you view your commanding officer in this spiritual battle?
• Our Commander has charged us in Matthew 22:34-40 to love God and love people. How do we as Christians go about loving people we don’t agree with or even trust?
• Read Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8. What does Jesus mean when He says we will be His ‘witnesses’? What is required (implied) of someone who wants to accept the mission of making disciples? •C.S. Lewis wrote that every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter. What did he mean? Do you agree or disagree?
•What can you do this week to ready yourself for the mission we as Christians are all called to?
PERSONAL REFLECTION
•How do you view Jesus? Is He your friend, savior, lord or king? How should you view Jesus according to scripture? If you’re not sure, study the person of Jesus through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and write down what you find. If you still aren’t sure, discuss it with a trusted friend.
•Who comes to mind when you think about people in your life who need to be introduced to Jesus? Write down their names.
•Ask God to give you a clear next step when it comes to these names and how you might point them to Jesus.
