QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

• How do you think most people would define success? • What does a great church look like?

Read 1 Corinthians 13 and discuss:

• Based on what you know, how would you describe the Corinthian church? What were their strengths? What were their biggest hang-ups?

• Paul could have put this description somewhere else in the letter, so why do you think it is where it is in1 Corinthians? How does it relate to spiritual gifts?
• How does love differ from all the other spiritual gifts?
• Why do you think Paul personifies love in vv. 4-8?
• How is love produced and cultivated? Receiving and being precedes doing. Why is that important?
• Discuss the significance of verse 13.
• So what is love according to God? What does it look like to have healthy relationships with one another in the body of Christ?
• What will be some signs of a loving church? How can you make that happen?

PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION

• Have you received love by grace or are you instead trying to achieve and earn God’s love?
• In verses 4-8, remove the word “love” and subsitute your name. Does this describe you? Why or why not?

• Is my love making a difference in my church and my world? How?
• Make Church great again! You have to be known to be loved and you have to know others to love them.
