QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY
• What are some areas in your life that you wish God would change
or fix? What is your expectation of God’s involvement? How would your view of Him be impacted if He didn’t fix them like you thought He would (or should)?
Read Hebrews 2:5-18:
• What are some ways in which God shows more care for humans than angels?
• If you have ever been a firsthand witness to injustice or abuse and didn’t step in, share the story and how it impacted you. Why did Jesus step into our story? Share biblical support.
• How often do you think of the reality of death? When you are reminded of the truth of James 4:14 how does it make you feel? Discuss the concept of Jesus fighting for us and defeating Satan and his greatest weapon, fear of death.
• Have you ever been embarrassed by a friend or family member? Why? Explain why Jesus being unashamed to call us “brothers” feeds our assurance.
• Why was it important that Jesus be born as a man and be like us in every way except sin?
• What is the primary responsibility of a priest? Why is Jesus a greater high priest? What should be our response to this?
PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION
What would change in your prayer life if you really believed that Jesus sympathizes with being tempted in every way you’re tempted right now?
Practice crying out to God, knowing that He sympathizes with you. A couple of ways to do this is to have an out-loud conversation with God in which you talk to Him about what you’re facing and ask for help. Another way, would be to write out some of the temptations or trials you are facing and surrender them to God.
