QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY

Read 1 Peter 3:8-12 and discuss:

• What childhood fight do you remember most vividly?
• On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being nerves of steel), how good would you say you are at controlling your temper?
• Why does Peter equate the blessed life with being people who bless? • When is it hard for Christians to live in harmony with each other? Why? What concrete actions can we use to promote harmony?
• Describe ways we can show sympathy and compassion to those who are hurting both within and outside the church. How can this be a powerful witness?
• What do you find to be the greatest obstacles to living out what we are commanded to? What should be our response when we encounter these obstacles?
• Why is our embracing of our name, “Christian”, and the identiy that comes along with it so important?
• What is the most powerful witness for Christ we have?
• What was the biggest takeaway from the message?

PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION

• Reflect on and pray through the five qualities listed in 1 Peter 3:8.
• Ask for the Holy Spirit to search you and reveal whether or not they are present in your life.
• Pray that God would provide opportunities this week to exercise these qualities. Journal how God answers that prayer.
