QUESTIONS FOR FURTHER STUDY
Read 1 John 5 and discuss:
• What have you learned about trust across the years? Are you by
nature a trusting person or a skeptical person?
• John says our victory is “our faith.” What are obstacles to trusting
in Christ? How is faith more than just facts about Jesus? What has
contributed to your growth in faith in Christ?
• Discuss the significance of the three witnesses in vv. 6-10. Why
do you think God gave us multiple witnesses to confirm Christ?
What does it mean that “Whoever believes in the Son of God has the
testimony in himself” (v.10)?
• John says we can know that we have eternal life, not just hope. Share
a time when God gave you assurance of His presence or His saving
work in your life.
• What does it mean to pray “according to His will”? How is this
different from treating prayer like a vending machine? How have you
seen God change you through prayer, even when He didn’t answer the
way you wanted?
• Which of these certainties encourages you most right now: eternal
life, answered prayer, protection from the evil one, belonging to God,
or Jesus as real life? Why? How does holding these certainties help us
live with confidence in a chaotic world?
• If faith in Christ is our victory, what’s one way you want to grow
deeper in trusting Him?
PERSONAL REFLECTION AND APPLICATION
• How has God confirmed His truth to you personally through His
Word, His Spirit, or the testimony of others?
• This week, write down one area where you’re struggling to trust
Jesus. Each day, pray specifically to place that in His hands.
Remember, faith in Christ is our victory!
